The Judean language has a word order that communicates which gender is communicating the action. Most Hebrew teachers. Weather it be Modern or Biblical will tell you that the word order is VSO (verb - subject - object) but that is not the truth!
You will see that not knowing what the symbols are actually communicating will block your eyes from seeing the truth about the language.
When the verb is communicating an action done or being done by a thing (nouns or a things have genders in Judean); then that gender needs to be indicated by the symbol that represents it. Often it communicates a pronoun in translation but it is left out in translation if that language, like English, finds it redundant . Judean is a redundant language. It was to be VERY clear who did what and genders matter!
You can consider it a pronoun or a gender if your language doesn't speak using redundant communication. See the examples below and notice the genders for verbs when you read the scriptures.
