Overview

Key Discovery:
Ancient Judean has TWO words for "no" - this lesson covers the SOFT form.

אל (al) = soft, polite, request-based negation

CRITICAL: When speaking to Yahuah or any authority, ALWAYS use אל (soft), NEVER לא (strong).

READING GOAL:
To recognize אל as polite negation and know when to use it.

The Rule

English: "don't", "do not", "please don't"

Judean: אל + verb = soft/polite negation

Used for polite requests and when addressing superiors.

When to Use אל (Soft)

Context	Use

Biblical Example

Genesis 15:1

אל־תירא אברם

(al-tira Avram)

"no(soft)-you-fear Abram" = "Do not fear, Abram"
